Mother's Day...

A Day to Honour all Mothers,

A Day where families celebrates, a toast to the most noble person in the house,

A Day where...sons and daughter go broke. But nonetheless, its nothing compared what our mothers paid.

My mom spent hers at 'Zhou's Kitchen' a tim sum restaurant by tung lok. And a sunday dinner cooked by 'mua' personally.

Tim sum was great.
Dinner was.. oh well.. better haha. no la, so-so.
And i got her a gift as well.
A personalized glass frame pieced together with two thick glasses. =]

It wasnt a grand affair,
it wasnt meant to be grand.

it was just meant to be a special day for my mom =]

Its been a RATHER lazy month spent on April...

Its has been a month since I've quit full time.
From being a full time gym instructor, to a wondering instructor, hoping from gyms to gyms giving orientations and doing SOP for F1.
From being a part time wine server, to being a PARTLY full timer server @ wine hut working more hours than I've ever worked.

Life been pretty much here and there.
Im 'scattered' everywhere.

From meeting up, eating, hosting and night cycling with Couchsurfing.com ,
From orientation-ing, managing and teaching the students in the gym,
From serving, washing, cleaning, selling, cooking @ wine hut,
From sleeping, slacking, surfing at home,
From from... having whats minimal left of my life hours to spend time with my mom and sis.
GEEES!

My life seems messier than a tangled knot.
but all knots can be untangled.
I hope I can sort out mine soon.

I am currently reading this book.
about 'Passion @ Work'
its very useful.
its like a bible for passionists.

Its not about loving what.
its about loving how.

one statement can really apply to what i need most now :
"Life is not about balances...its about piorities..."
how true, given that no one can do everything.
you cant balance everything.
its about piorities.
which one is more impt to you , you do it first. simple as that.

okie...
back to my messy life meanwhile,
and oh! haven even prepared for my trip around 'SEA on a shoestring'.
must buy backpack la, trekking shoes, zip lock bags..

CS Night Cycling
26th April, Saturday, 9pm - 8am , East Cost Park to All over singapore.

All 22 of us.
Some locals, some fellow friends from abroad.
Some tired from playing soccer, some tired some watching it, some just woke u.
but we all got a common goal.
To complete the Cycling route before the sun rise the next day.
And in search of good food as we go along the way.
And we did. =]
All 22 of us.
Plus one very helpfu safety driver. Who was tired from work, but still volunteered to take care of our safety.

Had a Raffles Luncheon with Dou Dou.

K, we were receeing the routes again and Leong Woon CS, kindly brought us to Ice cube@ Serangoon Gardens Opp Chomp Chomp. Whoa..the desserts there.. 'Health Killer' , 'Sweet Addict' there's the much said mud pies, sundaes, ice creams, cakes, waffles... should i say more? And we were there like midnight. ... think im gonna grow fat happy. haha.

Me and Kong zi shared the 'Cookies and Cream' Mudpie. ~~ Crunchy!

Leong Woon had the 'Mocha chocolate' mudpie. ~~! Bitter..Sweet.

Jacob! who just came back from a month's backpack in Vietnam had the 'Triple sth chocolate' ..haha i forgot. ~~ Delightfuly nice to see!

This world is not perfect...

I got this sudden urge to post this in my blog because its a rather annoying observation that I witnessed in a neighbourhood outlet at Burger King.

On this very typical weekday,
I needed to use my lappy.
So.. the first instinct was to find McDonalds.
Free Wireless ma.
But, even so, before you grade me as a typical singaporean for
using the free wireless outside,
I have found a typical group of neighbourhood ' hogging clan',
that come into the fast food resturant,
without buying a single pdt from the outlet.

Instead, they will be sitting at the Mcdonalds for Burger King eating Peanuts, Fried You Tiao, Curry Puffs from Old Chang Kee and some form NTUC downstairs.

Then, there is also the 'Sit there do nothing' clan, that simply sit there do nothing.
And guess wat?
As im typing this inside Burger King with my Ice Milo *From BK,
Almost half of the tables are occupied by this 'Hoggin Clan' !!!

I mean...
as in...
oh well.
The least they could do was to get a drink rite??!!
They give you free wireless , free air con and comfort ambience,
and these people do what typical singaporeans does best,
'Take advantage of whatever you can, Whenever you can.'

As a singaporean myself, I know I may have also been guilty sometimes for being kiasu and kiasi.
But the least I could do was to repay other people's generousity and reply on my own hands to work rather than depends on connections to achieve my needs..

really...
The Generation I grew up with knows one thing best,
To take advantage of everything and fight for nothing but benefit for oneself.
That's im sorry to say, is a utterly disgusting side of human nature.

How i wishe i was born in back in war times, where immigrants came, and there was nothing to be taken advantage of, but to reply on youself and build everything from scratch.

It really sets mi thinking...
Has the Past Generation Helped us? Or is actually leading us into an impeding Catastrophic planet?

Sometimes do you wonder,
How do people get rich and famous?
How do they become the most influential person that millions envy and admire?

Im sure you’ve have read about Bill Gates and Steve Jobs.
The hottest, richest and most famous person in the world.

And we know their story.
You know, how Bill Gates didn’t finish his Harvard, or he was kicked out from school?
Steve Jobs was rejected by countless companies before he found a ‘saviour’ who bought his idea and apple was born. They were once poor and had to make do with any jobs to survive, from but they know they need to work to keep their ideas alive.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Hard Work? Or Pure Luck?

I don’t know if it was lucky that Steve Jobs found a ‘saviour’ or it was because of his perseverance that his apple concept will work that get him this far. But one thing that is certain, he didn’t know what lies ahead.

Like Bill Gates, they just believe in their ideas and what they do. When nobody thought it was possible, they made it possible. When nobody dares to do, they dare to do it. And it is because of this strong belief that they unknowingly influenced millions or billions of people to accept the often unthinkable ideas.

Ladies and Gentlemen.
Hard Work? Pure Luck? Or Pure Genius?

Yes, it could be a god given natural talent that Gates could invent Computer software and Jobs could invent the same, but a much more ‘glamorous’ apple. But I would have to say that is only 1%. 97% came from their hard work and because they work hard, God gave them a little 2% luck to push them through and viola, the ‘greatest person of all time’ is born.

So I reckon, there is an equation that I have to follow:

1% Natural Talent (*if you’re not a genius, then it’s just whatever you learn in school)
+
97% Hard Work (*including all the sacrifices, tolerance, torture you’ve been through)
+
2% Luck (*Start praying. Sincerely and Faithfully and your 2% might come.)

Equals = Success.

"Eating is my art, is a passionate hobby."

Im sure to people who know me,
I am no stranger to food.
I eat when Im angry, I eat when Im happy and I eat when Im ..erm.. watever.
haha.
So you see, eating to me is not just a meal,
not just a time where its time for lunch, its time for dinner and to fill my stomach.

Eating is an enjoyment.
Eating is like an adventurous culinary journey.
Im always game to explore new places, new food.

some may ask, why so serious about eating?
food is just food.
But if you have watched 'Horton', I have one sentence which I can personally relate to; " A person is a person no matter how small.." how wonderfully said and I would say the same for food. Even simple food like home cook food prepared by your mom or an expensive meal prepared by the head chef, it is our duty to appreciate the effort behind the creation and enjoy the taste.

Well.. eating is something that is like a comfort antidote for me.
Especially chocolates and desserts.
They work like magic.
Serious!

So why I like eating again?
I Live to eat.

Then i comes to my next question; "Why are you still so well, skinny? *rather*"
First, im not skinny, im just Okay.
Second, because of my next passionate affair with exercise.
I have this balance philosophy.
well, not exactly a philosophy, but rather, how i have been living my life.
I eat a lot, but i exercise a lot too.
So the equation remains constant. And so is my size.
If i over eat, I over train.

But im not a professional hardcore sportsman,
but just a normal average joe who loves working out, exercising and playing sport games. running, swimming, cycling, gyming.

Ask me to choose which one I love most, or better,
its a tie.

because it has to be balance, so that i can continue to eat and work out and live life happy =]

alrites... so people, appreciate good food, erm...you can start from desserts?

Okie. I know its been 'decades' since i've posted something.
well, not that im very Busy until i cant spare a few mins on the computer,
but i was kinda lazy to upload the photos and my lap top got some probs.
This is going to be a long one cox im pouring everything that I've done for 2 weeks.

okays enough of excuses, lets get down to the post.

2 weekends ago i hosted A very nice Polish guy, Marcin.
for a night at my study room!
haha.
He's a engineer and is here in singapore for 2 nights before he leaves for New Zealand to climb the Mountains. whoa. Mountains. okay... tough guy.

Here's what we did while Marcin was here.

SAT
630pm : Picked him up Changi Airport and head to my place to down his huge baggage.
830pm : Cabbed down to Army Market with Jaslin hoping to have waffles.
900pm : *many stores were closed, but i discovered something new about Army Market, there's very good Malay 'Ze Char' stores just below! apart from the bloody redish 'tulang' that's the market is famous for, the ze char is also very value for $!
Here's what we ordered; stingray($14 medium size with 3 rather big pieces!), seafood tofu, Oyster Omelette or 'Or Jian', and Satay! and I would say what we paid is definitely cheaper than the touristy Glutton's Bay. Plus, its Army Market is 100% neighbourhood local food.
1000pm : We are not done yet! guess wat? Fellow nice CSer Leong Woon picked us up at the market and we head to Geyland for Durian! Talking about 'Sweets' for a treat man, haha I could'nt let Marcin go without trying this absolutely mind blowing 'King of Fruits' can I? haha. But being the adventurous traveler, Marcin ate 3 in one go! that he claims : "Not exactly his favourite, but it was 'INTERESTING'"... hmm haha well at least he's the 1 out of 10 foreigners who can 'Tahan' Durian.
1100pm : The nights still young and we drove to Clarke Quey's Cafe Iguna. Polish can really hold their alcohol! Taught Marcin how to play 'finger guessing game' or 'Cai Quan' and loser drinks up. I was okay, and managed only a mug. That's my max. I dun usually drink beer unless its for friends/occasions.
130om : Marcin and me took the mid night bus straight to my house to crush. haha. What a Night!

SUN
700pm : Met Jaslin and went to Little India. On a Sunday? Yesh, some of you guys will be like? HUH?!! Do you have idea its a weekend and you are in Little India??! the only 'White' among them? okay no racist remarks here, but truefully speaking, I have never been there on a weekend or even any weekend because its just not my culture and I would look kinda 'outstanding' too..
730pm : But but but, anways, we're there to meet Marcin and her friend Monika, both polish, at a Indian Restaurant for dinner. It Marcin's way for treating us for being his host. aww... And after being pushed by the crowds along the narrow streets of Little India, and breathe in the heavy curry pungent air,I was actually quite surprised that I liked the food and getting to appreciate their culture. Monika told me that they are nothing to be scared of because they are humans too, just like us, and they are actually harmless and friendly bunch of people in a foreign land. *It kinda made me feel ashame to think that I used to 'escape' from them as well...* Its a lesson learnt i guess.. =]
1000pm : Headed to Crazy elephant at Clarke Quey *Again* which monika insisted that we should'nt miss this opportunity of spending time together. haha. and had some drinks again. of cox, 'Cai quan' started... with great music band playing..
1230am: .....Cab back.. cox i gotta work in the morning...! yawns.

Rest of the week, was spent clearing leave, its my last few days with F1 and Ngee Ann. And teaching shah the ropes of working at NP Gym.

I met Old Buddy 'Caveman' Eric! to have brunch at Arab Street.
this new outlet which i explored is called 'B Bakery'

their sandwiches are made from real food!
as in, their beef sandwich is served with the beef steak (*not patty) on the bread with grilled vegetables on top! whoa.. my chicken sandwich was great as well..
the atmosphere was very laid back and service pleseant.

A must try is their sandwich and their chocolate fudge and sticky date pudding!
their latte is nice as well!!
A bit hard to find though, tuck behind arab street,
its at behind Kampong cafe. Recommended to go try out this eatery on a laid back weekday afternoon. B Bakery.

Afterwards, we caught 'August Rush' at Lido.
A bit slow but but but, music was fantastic. =] story was extraordinary as well.
and a few days later, Eric gave me a surprise and drop a parcel of the soundtrack posted to my house. haha! wei Eric, thanks for the gift!

Farewell treat for Gerard and myself @ Waraku de PAsta (Marina Square)!

One fine thursday night,
Gerard, me and James head to marina sqaure and finally tired the much anticipated Waraku de Pasta. we reached at 10pm ! they closed at 11pm...

Here my verdict..

Their Menu looks enticing! The Japanese sure emphazise a lot on packaging.

This is Vitegen plus soda... taste like.. vitegen plus soda lo! carbonated version.

This is my normal egg and chicken.. taste a bit bland, but smells good.

The pizza we ordered. Its such a OyiShi combination! i would be happier if they put more ingredients.. rather than a few pathetic pieces.. but its very tasty! and addictive.. esp the sauce on the pizza.. Beware.. Mayo alert!

James ordered the Curry Beef Rice. whoa. the beef was sooo soft and tender, melts in your mouth, but the curry was not spicy enough i feel. I dun really like jap curry. no kick lei..

Gerard's Seafood pasta. Look good! Mussels are big and the cream is good! not bad, but still a bit pricey...

Tiramisu Parfait ! The taste is kinda expected since the ingredients are common, but the presentation gets FULL marks!

Lucky for me, these two sweet guys eats desserts and we ordered a sundae parfait empire! all three flavours! *SWEET*

Gerard and James sure know how to appreciate the good stuff...

I cant be borthered and busy enjoying very bit of my dessert...

The men eat the ice cream just like little boys... awww.. everyone has their own little kidish side..

the dinner was my way of saying thanks to Gerard and James for guiding and helping me so much during my time in F1.

They really help me a lot and i learnt a lot from them.
As well as from my very nice bosses, Tse Yong! and Steve.
I kinda miss working with them ,
but i can always work part time =]

They gave me valuable experiences and lessons and their generousity and kindness was really beyond what average bosses will give.

Im sure... F1 . will definately make its mark. Because the team has elite people to bring it to the top. =] Good Luck F1 !

Burgerlicousily Good Gathering.

Finally.
on the faithful day of 17th March 2008,
I tried the much awaited burger from RELISH by chef william from wild rocket.

Here my checklist for the meal:

- Bunch of local foodies from Couchsurfing 'EAT EAT EAT Group. *Checked*
- Good atmosphere *Checked*
- Getting everyone to Cluny Court (huh?! where's tat?), eventually. *Checked*
- Loose fitting to have extra space for burgers. *Checked*
- Good Food. *Checked* er... *HALF Checked*
- Good Service. =] *Checked*
- A jolly good dinner time with CS *Checked* *Checked* *Checked!!*

The Oreo 'last min' Cheesecake.

THE BURGERS *and my verdicts*

Tofu burger. Well.. it has a very unique concept and layout, but still.. its a vegeterian food... no exactly my cup of burger.. haha. but at least your vegeterian or 'super model' girl friends can enjoy a burger dinner with you.. haha.

Spicy BBQ Char Siew Pork Burger. Well.. this burger has my number one vote, yes, they say it looks and taste like 'Kong Ba', but it really is the more tender, more flavourful and tasty version of it. the sauce is sweet and the combination is havenly. wha..unfortunately i didn ordered this, but tried a piece of it from another CSer. frankly, its better than my ram-lee although mine was okie too. *NOTE: 'okie' only lor. lol.

Wild Rocket Burger. This is the best seller. Signature burger from Wild Rocket restaurant, but i find it nothing much extraordinary and the beef is a little dry. its well cooked, but maybe a little moist would be better. and all burgers comes with a rather generous supply of fries.. i think its to make up for the small little burger size they give. but its actually quite filling! be warn.

Pita Lamb Chop Burger. Okie, im not a fan of lamb chops so i cant comment much, but the small eaters can try this since the pita is not as filling as the sesame buns. but i heard its actually not bad. oh forgot to mention, if you dun want fries, can request for salads which is TASTY!

Finally, my Ram -Lee burger. I didnt ordered it because it was my surname. but, i would like to try how much diff is this HIGH CLASS burger compared to the $2 ramly burger in pasa malam. my verdict? sometimes, the streets knows it best. ramly wins! this high class one is a little too messy to eat, and the sauce not as tasty. the meat was thick and lack of taste as well. but overall, its still a okie dish. oh well...its back to the good old ramly burger i guess... haha.

HOW I SPENT MY RATHER BUSY WEEKEND LAST WEEK...PART I

Well.. i hosted Susie, a CouchSurfing Friend from Liverpool,
Went to Kai Lings Birthday,
Had supper with Gerard and Ernie after the birthday
Worked at Wine hut.
Celebrated mt Sis Xiao Hui's birthday at Jerry'y Grill and BBQ.

Met My new UK Friend Susie From Liverpool! HAd a long long walk around town and took a pretty nice view of CBD!

While waiting for susie the next day, i walked alone along Ann Siang St. Its between Tanjong Pagar and Chinatown and has many vintage shop houses that are now Spas, pubs and restaurants. Many big names are housed in this little quiet street like ; IndoChine, French restaurants, and most recently the Screening Room which i have yet to go!

I dun know why, but i like capturing pictures of these old shop houses that has a certain 'character' to it. I hope to set up my own office here someday..its looks soo cosy =]

I always get fascinated by these old walk ways that reminds me of the 60s and 70s. I love vintage art! althought i wasnt even born yet, but the people in the 60s sure lived a much colourful life than our concrete and glass life now....

The Future FOOD Generation?

My Mother hates to waste food.
She eats almost anything.
Because she knew food, don't just drop from the sky. Food were scarce.
It is not to be taken granted for.
There are so many times where she had to eat the little leftovers that her mother cooked or given by neighbours.
In those days, porridge and dark soy sauce will be a day's meal.
No wonder, she's contented now.

I hate to waste food as well. But sometimes, the food makes me hate it even more.
I eat ALMOST anything. But not as much as my mother.
Because I knew food, don't just drop from the sky. But food are abundant now.
It is not to be taken granted for. But with food now at skyrocketing prices, i can see why.
There are times where I had to throw leftovers that my mother left because there were too much.
In my time, porridge now are $10++per bowl at Crystal Jade.
No wonder, I'm fussy now.

Wonder what would my future generation will be?
Definately,

maybe up to the point where GOD decided that's enough and sends us back to caveman age.

I watched "The Leap Years" ytd at P.S.

Never mind that it was a LOCAL production.
Never mind that the theatre was only a handful seated.

This movie, is pretty, romantic and artistic.
I kinda love it.

Actress Wong Li Lin is beautiful and acted very well for this film.
Actor Ananda Everingham is handsomely dashing and charming and charismatic that make all the girls melt.....awwwww.... looking at him makes the film even sweeter. haha.

i shall update my post and summarize what i've been doing and what i intend to do.

first, my contract for F1 is coming to an end.
MArch 31th shall be my last day at Ngee Ann Poly Gymwerkz. (*i hope)
It was not entirely what i expected to spent my one year, but it was no doubt fruitful and meaningful in terms of the lessons i've learnt and the people i've met that made me see this world in a nutshell.

And Chinese new Year was well.. not exactly the happiest moment of my life,
didnt had a happy time with my family because of i had to see *him*
and on the 4th fateful day of CNY,
i had to sent my best 7 yrs of buddy sea creature friend, to Australia Adelaide.
sobx sobx.
i really hope she's happy there but not forgetting these 7 years how we bonded...

Have you ever felt that you are lost.
physically you are still doing what you are doing but you are so lost in your mind that you lose concentration and focus.

Every day seems like a daily routine and life's is just like a Standard Protocol.

well...
i did...
i realised i have been 'lost' a very very long time ago. Ages.

I always wonder, what im i doing?
Why do I do what i want?

this may seem i think too deep or too much,
but if i cant even have answers for these,
that there is no purpose in life.

which brings to my point.
the solution the LOST people like me,
is to have a PURPOSE.

Having a purpose in life makes you focus and make you WORK towards the purpose.
i realised this.
for example: If schools dun have examinations at the end of the year, the students will not mug and revise their work...in this case, exams are the purpose and students work towards passing the exam and achieve the purpose.

Thats it, having a purpose in life drives people to work.
And when i say work,
i meant doing something productive and seomthing you enjoy that will contribute to your goals aka. 'your wants'

as many i may have said so far,
i need to work on it as well...
do yourself a simple favour if you are lost like me,

write this : "my purpose is.........(fill in the blanks yourself)

then i reckon, you'll eventually find your way out of the 'lost' world.

Ytd I finally completed my 3 day, 12 hours Vibro Gym Training.

For those who know nuts about wat im talking all about,
basically Vibrogym is something like the OTO 'Fabulous', whereby you stand on a vibrating platform and do your exercises.

It has been scientifically proven to burn more fat and work your muscles more in a much shorter time.

But, OTO is fake. or rather, Vibrogym claims that Vibro is the ORIGINAL plate.
oh well, marketing.

but i must admit, it does works.
I feel my strength used up in just 1 SET.
But i dun feel soreness at all.
NONE.
you just feel you can no longer work out the muscles anymore, Minus the pain u get from conventional weights training.
hmmm
interesting...
Man are going at such a fast pace that even exercise is transformed to deliver results in a shorter time.
I wun be surprised that the next generation dun run, dun swim,
they just sit all day long on some virbrating machine and let machines do all the work.
We just become MALFUNCTIONABLE individuals who rely on cold hard machines to make us functionable. Dosen make sense huh? Because once you reply on machines too much, why do you still need to be functionable? Its as good as like a baby relying on the mother, but as it grows, can it still rely on the mother? if it meant to be relied on mothers, den why do we still GROW den? might as well become babies forever...
so sad... *chim chim* yesh, u can ignore this post if u are starting to see question marks...

oh well..
but nonetheless, its still something that could improve our lifes as the Vibrogym are used for Rehabilitation and Therapeutic purposes.

- LEave away from home *NOT ADVISABLE EITHER* (Why would u wanna leave home? you go back home mainly to sleep anyways.. elsewhere is the same. save the $ ppl)

- Stay home late. (wat? u mean you cant stay home late til ya 21?... never heard of mid night bus izzit..)

- Stay home late without your parents bitting your ears and nagging thru out. (wat?! u mean once u hit that 'BIG' 21 your mom stops nagging at you? eh hello, mouth is hers one, when she wants to nag, she nag, dun care whether you are 21 or not, plus, we will always be a child in our mother's eyes.)

Dinner with my mom and sis @ Raffles City Hot Stones

DEcided on the The Hot Stone at Raffles City Basement. My mom likes crepes * i think* and so we decided to give this place a try since its always packed during dinner and lunch hours.

Turns out?
BIG MISTAKE!
Poor Service! from the manager some more.
Poor Location. Very noisy and too cramped.
Poor Quality of food.
Wat more can i say?
For the adventurous who seek sth new, try if u must. dun regret.
For the non adventurous and got no preference, anything also can for you, den give this place a miss.
For the super fussy and eat only gd food, THIS PLACE IS BANNED! AVOID AT ALL COST!

pardon me, but i hate it when im at a high end location which provides low class service standards... den i might as well serve myself....huiyo... tsk tsk tsk..

anyways.. back to the food... see for yourself below bah..

We ordered the "Kimchi Slow Pulled Pork" with wholemeal crepe and it was gd! meat was tender moist. kimchi wasnt over powering the meat and overall combination was excellent.. worth a try, deserve my thumbs up! .. but sadly.. overall im still quite disappointed with the place located at raffles city somemore.. *TSK TSK..

The Peking Duck Crepe had a gd strong flavour, but was sadly filled with cholestrol inviting FATS. yesh, its mainly fats and not lean meat inside as filling... *tsk tsk.. sorry, im giving it a miss...

After the disappointing experience @ RAffles city, i decided to do my mom good and treat to something gd at Coffee Club Marina Square for Dessert! and it worked! desserts were fantastic! haha k .. im bias.. towards desserts.. here my quick review:

Banana Nut Toffee Cappacino. Sweet, but the flavour is too artifical for my taste. im starting to have phobia for flavoured coffee already.. hate those syrup base kind.. taste aweful! for those who know me, yesh im referring to STarbucks flavoured coffee. im a old traditionalist when it comes to food sometimes, for coffee, powder kinds are the best...milky, rich and smooth... =]

And of cox, Gobble down on Coffee Clubs Specialty Dessert, "Muddy Mud Pie". One of my favourite most, "Galat" *Thick* chocolate-coffee-brownie dessert, with ice cream and oreo crumbs on top!. Win le lo.. combine all the fav desserts in ONE!

Nougat Parfait from Coffee CLub.. Smooth, Light and Fruity... equals... Heaven dessert!

Saw this FOX KIDS advert on a magazine and went : " SOOOooo CUTEeee".. i like babies in diapers with their cute little teddy bear patterns or candy dresses, but wearing thses FOX brand tready fashion bring a whole lot of attitude to the kids! cool cuties !

Sun morning,
went to sport climb at Climb Asia.
I wun give up until i finished the route which im stucked at.
haha
maybe tats the attractive power of sport climbing.

anyhows,
got injured. while trying and being stubborn as i am,
attempting to climb this route called the 'Vanilla Ice'
And got a big blister on the middle finger in return.

went to work at wine hut.
at first was peaceful.
Quiet.
Thought could go home early.
but Noooooo...
7plus, walks in the Japanese 'Cheesy' Family.
I call them the 'Cheesy' Family because all they ordered was cheese.
Cheese Platter lah, Cheese STicks...Cheese Pizza...
And Just as i was about to get busy with the preparation of food..
*SMASH!!!*
broke a glass and it resulted in 3 cuts on my hand !!!

prepared the food with my blood soaking plaster on BOTH hands

For 3 hours, I kinda experienced HELL.

things are not going right for me and tiredness is gripping me hard...

Today is the first day of the Wellness Program At NP.
AFter 2 weeks of break,
the students are back,
Bought back some life into the gym.

but i wanna to blog about wat i've learnt from Gerard today.
And wat i;ve observed.

He was thinking about wat to do for warm up.
running around the stadium was the norm.
A standard i always do as warm uo session.
But after seeing how Gerard did his session today,
I realised i still have a lot to learn.

He was playing with them this game called
"Crumps and Crust"
A very simple game of catching with a twist.
But the students, despite all poly freshmen,
all 16 yr olds,
played like small kids.
Can tell that this simple game was fun for all of us,
including myself.

it got me thinking...
ACtually sometimes, using simple ways, and most often child like games to teach people, even adults,
can be fun.
Dun have to think of complicated moves or rules or even equipment.

Sometimes,
simple is better.
simple is more.
simple is fun.

my gosh,
i have been boring my students,
running ... warm up...
come to think of it, who dun know how to run?
early morning, force them to run around...

Growing up

All Humans will experience the process of Growing Up.

I had a 'Mama Heng's Spicy Pork Sandwhich' with Chinese Chicken Salad Combo.

Dou dou ordered the 'Cuban Ham and Cheese Steak Sandwhich' With Mushroom soup combo.

Haha we ended up mixing of the sandwhich in one plate and created our own combo!

CAkes From my Favourite 'Food For Thought' . I shared the Malteese chocolate Cake and Oreo Cheese Cake with dou dou. The Chocolate cake is plesant, great balance and gd texture, plus the sweetness of the bananas just makes it sweet=], the oreo cheese cake, is surprisingly not too thick and overwhelming, its got a nice airy texture and the cheese is not too strong as well ! Recommended MUSt TRY!

This. is the maid who does it aLL! She ia a blessing to the family.

Gloria Jean's Carrot Cake....---> Its moist inside, smooth cream cheese so i give my thumb up, mi mummy also give thumbs up. They have a new outlet at Cathay Cineleisure *used to be rocky masters.

Experience Loneliness, Learning Happiness...

I realised.
I dont know myself anymore.
This is not an 'emo' post.
Its what I am now.

I got a job, got salary, got experience.
But NO Life.
I neglect my family the most.
I feel distant from them already.
ITs Christmas Season,
I suddenly remembered the times when my mum will always bring me to orchard
to take photos with the brightly lit decorations..
with bugs bunny and all..
EVery year.
without fail... when i was younger..
...
now that im old..
hit 20 on july..
no photos, no presents (nicely wrapped ones)

How can i have neglected my family?

I always feel, that im lonely because im busy with work, for a better future ahead for my family.
Execuses.
Im always asking myself why dun i feel any Love at all?
Love, is a never ending lesson.
My previous article about finding true love,
i realised is superficial.

How can i truely love a person when i cant even love my own family?
I chanced upon the book : "I kissed dating goodbye"
I dun understand the bible learning inside or the quotes from the bible,
but what i understood was,
How do you Love your other half? Simple.
Start from the Family.

your other half will be like your mummy, whom you see almost every other day and
the bonding cannot be broken.
I know its a strange way of describing it,
but i've kinda seen many situations,
where
Your girlfriends are nice to their boyfriends and the next, cold towards their brothers and sisters. Some are nicer to boyfriends are mean to their child hood friends...

I dun know what kind of a partner i will be,
but he shall me my 'mummy'. haha.
meanwhile, there is not point waiting for love,
It always there.
'Practice' it on ur mummies and daddies and even on ur brother and sisters and friends.
if you are attached, be true in front of your partner.

1. To Batam with my 'Stupid 4' aka s4. feels great to be with them...
2. Stay at the Golden View Hotel.
3. Rode a JET SKi !
4. Sat on a Banana Boat.
5. Went Shopping in a Batam Mall.. Nothing much actually.
6. Paid just over $10+ for a la kopi of 6 0_o...
7. Paid just over $100++ for a 3 days 2 nights trip!
8. RODE a BIKE. ROde a BIKE FOR REAL!
9. Rode the Bike on DIRT ROAD! DIRT BIKING!
10. ...LAstly.. feel that im missin my s4 as time goes pass and guessin when can i go on a trip with them again..

I went to watch the movie "Enchanted" By Walt Disney with dou dou @ JP.
I may look very serious and 'OLD',
but im a huge Walk Disney Pictures fan.
I like watching fairy tale movies,
I grew up reading Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast..
The new Generation has "The Princess Diary", And....."Shrek -*Princess Fiona* haha still a princess wat.. the new generation's taste apparently dropped tremendously haha.

Wat to do, im a little girl inside haha =]

Located in a quiet corner of Cluny Court,
This one month old Cafe is Magnificient.

I went with Li ting last wed because she's reviwing this special little eating place for her valentine magazine article.

I was honoured to accompany her there since im a huge food fan.
The Decor was french mixed with asian kinda ambience.
there are french and indian paintings on the walls,
all hand painted by a local artist that the owners approached on the streets.
She damn good i must say, the paintings really makes the walls come alive.

The table settings are very heartwarming and cosy.
Its exactly the same as my house table setting,
haha.
really feels like 'HOME' to me...

But, the best part,
has got to be their food.
Melts the heart, warms the tummy.
EAch cuisine has its own uniquness because its European food with an Indian twist to it.

The owners are from India, but have been living in European countries due to their jobs. But they quit their high paying jobs *the lady boss works in the hospitality line working with many big hotels all over the world...and the husband owns a hotel in India...

The sauces and garnish are not too overwhleming and compliments very well with the food.
Its natural herbs and spices used and every main dish came out with the fragrance lingering in the air, making your mouth drooling for more...

Desserts?
Fantastic.
Thought the chocolate foundant is not as mind blowing as Miss Clarity's,
still, its a gd bite.
There is this special dessert called the 'Eton Mass' read the menu for its interesting origin and there are many surprises waiting for you in the bowl of sweet treats.. haha i felt like a child again when im eating that...

We ordered the "Across the English Channel" (7 types of mushrooms with cumin rice), Set Dinner that comes with the "Fish Fillet with herbs" (Nice Dory with a gd texture and fresh taste) and the "Mushroom Soup" (Whao , taste similar to the soup spoon..)

Plus the service was very sincere and plesant.
Owners are friendly person and good looking too haha.

Monday was Gymwerkz first Aerobics Class.

Response was alrite.
25 ppl signed up.

Class started @ 5.15pm

I moved along with the music...
dance along,
my palms are sweating,
my head is blank...
i dun know what im doing half of the time..
and..
25 students are behind mi doing, and mimicking my every move.

yes.
im conducting it.
AHHH!!

the REAL instructor injured herself,
couldnt make it and asked mi to stand it,
HUH??!!
whaaat??!

Me??!!

During the lesson, no casualties.
but I felt guilty not being able to perform better and give the students the best experience from Aerobics..

joined Fitness First as member too..
I gotta started some where if I wanna gain experience rite..
I need to know how the real instructors conduct their lessons..

but it came at a harsh price of $133 per month.
oh well,
treat it as gaining yet another skill lo.

It been a long time,
Since i taste the bitterness of STRESS.

yes.
after my third weekend of Aerobics Course,
im mentally, physically frasrated at being able to BARELY make it.

Now I realised, being a AI is not as simple as I thought.
I had to follow the beat, keep to the routine steps, and give proper cue and yet still look natural and confident.
how to when im bloody hell not coordinated at all?
haix.
pardon my languauge.

my legs and arms dun go move well together.
i look stiff and im struggling to memorise my routines.
plus,
cues!
God.

i only got one week to practice my routine, MASTER it and present it again to my instructor...
...
but with piling work at NP, more nity grity stuffs to handle...
no studios to practice,
im doom....

I think that there is a very gd reason why im not in arts, music, or dance.
im just NOT CUT out for it i guess...
my body was created to WORK, work and more work.

BENG THIN HOON KEE RESTAURANT Hokkien Cuisine

Well its been a long time since i last reviewed a real food cuisine.

Me and Mum first chance upon this Well known Hokkien Cuisine through watching Channel 8's "HDB Tai Tai 2"....
i know i know, very 'auntie' rite?
hey, actually i wun consider it 'auntie', its a lifetyle show. *okie okie im giving execuses...**

Anyways,
The show was showing all the food and i was drooling and dazzling all the way man.
Being brought up to eat in quite a traditional hokkien and cantonese cusinie because of my family roots,
i've learnt to appreciate both and i LOVE it a lot.
yes, of cox western sandwhich is healthy and soup is good.
but hey,
nothing beats a good old juciy 'Kou Rou Bao' *with minimal fat* , 'BLack Hokkien Mee' , 'YAm Basket' and 'Roasted Meat'.
Plus a nice bowl of frangrance soft white rice.... *Smacks fingers*!

haha.
well, so i found out through my trusty 'hungrygowhere.com' and
Voala!
ITs located at Chulia St (Raffles Place)
gd. central location.

Book a date with my mum and my sista and
off we went.
once we step out of the esculator,
Whoa....
Traditional Chinese Building smack right in the middle of a carpark on OCBC Building.

okie, tats a gd start...
feels a bit funnny but its the food that counts.

Next, whoa...
menu list was fantastic and the Pricing was SUPERB.

oh well...
gd food its worth it for i guess..

decided on a 6 course menu that will satisfy the whole family including kay.
i hope. haha.
On the List was: "Cold Duck Salad" , "Fish Maw Soup", "Black Hokkien MEe" , "Kou Rou Bao" , "YAm Backet" , "STeamed White Promfet Fish *i dun know how to spell it*" and "Or-Ni *Yam paste dessert*". Oh, we ordered extra "Nor-Hiang" too... but it was disappointing Nor Hiang.

Food?
MElts in your mouth and linger in your taste buds and give you the "ahhhhh" factor.
Every food was above average. *Except for the nor-hiang.
My fav? if i really had to choose, it will be the OR-NI !!!

i told u im a dessert person.
i think i can finish the whole pot myself!
even chinese desserts appeal to me!

the Or-Ni is not too overwhelmingly sweet and had a nice touch of fragrance yam on the nose. the ginko nut was fresh and its not too oily cox they didn put in the coconut milk....

fantastic finishing to a gd meal with my family heehee =] !

so, to sum up,
at the end of the day,
even though the service was average and in fact, i didn even like the supervisor,
i think her subordinates did a better service job than her..
okie, back to the food,
although it meant eating less and cheap for the rest of the month,
the $200+ meal at Beng Thing was actually quite worth it.
and its for 5 person.
okie la.

my heart was alive when i ate, but was torn apart with we paid.

Whoa... killer man.

so i dun have to find additonal time to exercise.

First topic, "Introduction of an Aerobics Instructor Role"

its very useful and informative.
Followd by lunch with a few course mates at the new food junction at bugis.
Great food, Nice ambience, Big Space. but VERY SUPERLY Si BEI EX!
I dun think you could find anything $3 or less for a meal.
the fluctuating of prices are really getting scary man..

After lunch, start second topic "Anatomy and Applied Anatomy"

being able to read my book.

Gathering @ Ade's Place...SAt night PARTY =]

SAt night, after a very special monopoly @ yi hui 21st birthday party, *Its a credit card system. how cool is that? either im too outdated or im easily fascinated.!
bought a frontage shirt for yi hui.
limited edition wor!

Ade picked me and kong up and we headed her place.
the boys are there.
its a simple yet cosy SW gathering. =]
see them in their shaven 'botak heads'
haha funny lah.

Food was great, but i was already full from yi hui's buffet spread.
2 parties in one night is no joke, but i enjoyed myself though.

chatted with my beloved haha sch mates. *eeeeee
adeline's dad got her a van! whao..
maybe i can consider getting one too, its a very spacious and can put sofa at the back lor!

parry and gang tried each others' ride. *aaron's cerfiro and ade's van.
haha had quite afew laughs..

The battle between "The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf" and "The Coffee Connoisseur (TCC)"

AS you all know.
Im a 'La kopi' Fanatic.
And i decided to give my point of view between two popular cafes that has been around for some time, fighting vigorously for each other's 'loyal' la kopi-ans (us).

First, TCC.

Most famous for their boutique concept cafes rather than the drinks,
this is one of the most places that have done their marketing well.
they have satisfied us visually, but failed to satisfy our thrist for a good cuppa of coffee. *Not to even mention the cakes.

I love the sofas, the set, Hate the drinks and the taste.
the drinks failed to impress 'mua' but would give thumbs up to this new addition called the 'Matcha Latte".
The green tea was soothing and blends well with the 'not-too-overwhelming' coffee.
their cakes recently dropped standards *wasnt tat good to begin with*
So yea, wouldn't recommend their cakes. esp for birthdays.
unless desperate. hee.
But they do a wise selection of main course though. but price wise... a bit off the budget.

But, Service wise. i'll give it a 8 over 10. prompt, very good customer service and quite iniative. =] uniform looks very unique as well...

OVerall: 3 out of 5

NExt, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.

Frankly, though i worked there as a barista before.
Im not a fan of their drinks.
It lacked the 'Kicks' *no depth in their coffee.
But its also beause its powder base that makes it one of the easiest coffee to drink around.
I recently fell in love with their pecan latte!
sweet, fragrant and mikly/ =]
just the coffee for me!

and their cakes,
S.O.L.I.D ar!
haha.
has texture, not too sweet, and has a good variety as well.
Their new Cranberry Michel is a must TRY!!!
their are very generous with the cranberries and i love fruits! esp with chocolates!
haha best thing is, its only $3.50 per slice. and it a HUGE slice i tell... haha.
very 'auntie' hor! i know i know...

but,
overall, service is one of the not so good ones among the cafes as well...
but there are a handful who makes your day! =]

OVerall: 3.5 out of 5

its been a long LONG time since i last updated my blog.

Its the start of the new school semester and as expected.
its busy.
but im kinda liking it,
cox that means no more rotting in the gym and waiting for time out.

new changes in the gym.
many things improving and hopefully,
things remain this way.

Another obstacle lies ahead as the Wellness Program starting soon.
Yet another round of intese 12 weeks of fitness lessons... 0_0

May not get to blog much later,
starting my AIC (Aerobic Instructor Course) soon.
is a long intensive 4 weekends of AIC lessons, from 9am to 8pm!
whao....
may be dead tired to do anything after that, not to mention even bloggin.

as the oct coming to a near end,
it means i have 5 more months to end of contract.
means that im closer to my budget backpacking trip.
maybe,
i'll go Europe.
But due to the limited money resources,
maybe, i'll start from india den china den indonesia den come down all the way bakc to singapore.
who knows?

Wow, i finally find quiet time out of this hectic schedule to do some reading at
spinelle cafe @ raffles city.

its a new book that i've just bought and its 'The Lonely Planet Travellers' Story'
by Tony and Muareen Miller, founder of the Lonely Planet Co., The World's largest and most comprehensive publishing co for travel guide books and resources.

As 'non-reader type' as I may be seen, I actually enjoy reading since young but I mostly indulge myself on books on travelling, novels and biographies.
As nerd as it may seem, I kinda enjoy reading National Geographice and Reader Digest when i was young and that was the book that was subscribed for the students in my old sec sch.

ALrite enough of the reading part.

This week has been well, a cocktail of fun, relax and hectic.

Monday and Tuesday started with my recovery period.
I took leave to rest, and to 'mugged' for the FIC exam. (Fitness Instructor Course)

Starting WEd, my god, attended the WHP (Work Place Health Promotion Managers' Course)
@ Tanglin Shopping CEntre by Ms PHern Tan from FHI.
I must admit, although I have studied this module from NYP before,
corporate courses are actually more vibrant and active than sch.
the exectuives who attended are super enthusiatic, and the the trainer was a great speaker.
I did learnt a lot from the course, but it kinda drained my mentally,
esp when wed night, after the course,
headed to ulu kallang stadium for the exam.
sigh.
it was OK la... but you;ll never know until the results are out.
And i will keep hope til that moment. haha =)

The WHP course was three days long, so for the whole of last week,
i didn work at NP gym, leaving poor gerard to handle everything in the gym himself.
I felt bad though, but there is nothing much I could do unless i practice the 'Fen Shen Shu'. *lame*

So yea,
and sat, which is today,
just finished my FIC Practical @ Planet Fitness.
Boy. Its was such a nerve wecking experience.
Everyone was 'stiff minded' including my partner who was Shivering all the way while doing the Body composition on me.
I was no better. oh well.

but whatever it is, nothing can really describe what im going through except that how I wished, that I could do things at a slower pace, so that quality weighs more than quantity? singaporeans has this 'kiasu-lism' factor that I really cant stand in the working world. And I thought school was bad. tsk tsk.

day 5 of my sickness.
Not exactly though since im feeling better. Finally.

even i could feel it when im lying on my bed,
and could'nt help thinking that my body is protesting.

but today,
this post, i feel like writing about somebody.
somebody i thought i knew but yet so distant.

I been evaluating myself these days.
im stubborn *Very , confident*at times , and passionate.
yes.
im born with love.
but its not easy to get the truely one love.
im talking about my passion with the things i do, the people i meet and the experiences i been through.

im easily contented, but its genuine love that last.
call me stupid. but that's a very good reason why i love watching romantic comedy.

Don't you wish
to be able to meet a special person who can travel all over the globe with you?..
to the Cuban islands, Indian landscapes, and the Europe castles..

i've met old tourist couples at wine hut still holding hands as they walk by, strolling and even though words wasnt exchanged, their actions melt a thousand hearts...awww..

Mid Autumn Festival. A Night of Family Reunion...

I went home straight after work today.
No la kopi-ing with friends, No work.
Its family time today.
Its a time i set for myself and my family.

'Ah Jin' picked me up from work.
Reached home super fast.
Even had time for TV before dinner.
Gosh, i cant remb whe i was infront of the Tv on a Tuesday Night.
decades ago perhaps?

Dinner was HUGE.
Plenty of Sushi (Cold Storage), Pizza(Rite Pizza Delivery) and Mooncake (Breadtalk)
+ Nutri Soy Tea.
haha, our mummy ish the 'hippest mom in town man.
All the food all 'Convenient' one.
OVer dinner we talked and laugh like mad.

Discovered how 'HIP' our mom was.
She, watches crunchyroll ! *KOrea Drama
WActhed all the Korean Drama that most girls YOUNGER than me are watching now.
She buys Sushi and MARS BAR ice cream for reunion dinner on mooncake festival.
Goah, sometimes i feel older than me mom.
TAT;s sooooo wrong.

But,
it felt grest towards the end of the night.
Kay came also!
haha poor thing la, my mom forced her to eat mooncake and ice cream second round.
haha.
but all was cool. =]

Even though eventually i didn get to buy the golden goodwood park hotel mooncakes.
I realised,
as i munched my breadtalk and 'East Ocean' ones,
They tasted just as gd.
Maybe even better.
Because its not always the food that counts.
Its the heart.
IT was filled with so much warmth that everything taste gd.

To all those reading this,

<A Story of a Great Woman-My Mother
IT was a sunday morning, while im still in my morning daze,
my mum delivered a shocking news to me.

Mum: "You know, Auntie Tina, Jenny and Carol got terminated by the company you know?"
... *they are all my mum's colleagues.
Me:"HUH??! Why?"
...
Mum:"......beause they are OLD already, they replaced with three new GIRLS..."

There was a short silence and I knew deep down that my mum is worried about her future...Suddenly it was like, you know this ominous thing is going to happen but you wished it would not.

Im not worried about living a simplier and humble life in future.
My greatest fear is my mum stressing too much about the issue and affect her health.
My pain comes from my mother's pain.
But words just can't come out from my mouth when i see her...*sigh*
Her once youthful face is now so hagged and shagged.
Her unkempt hair, wrinkled eyes...

No doubt, I blame myself for not being able to help much to ease her heavy burden of being the sole breadwinner of the family.
No doubt, I cant relieve her stress.

The story of my mum goes a long way back;
I was brought up by maid at home when i was young.
But my mum taught me well.
she disciplines us, taught me my school work (she would sit beside me until i finished my homework) and she NEVER NEVER hits her kids.

Frankly, I'm a rebellious and hot tempered kid *even til now*.
But she seldom threw her temper at me.
She gave her kids freedom to do her own things.
Even if it meant I could have entered a NTU or NUS kinda sch and get a gd job with gd prospect, but I chose to do sth of interest with unstable prospect and career opportunities,
She never once complain and nag about my decision.

She's always stingy about her own needs, but never her kids.
sometimes she even splurge on us =] .
But that's my mum. Self sacrificing.
Even on her friends.

But this lady was no fortunate wife.
Married a 'Man' who neglected his role as a 'father' and 'husband' *I seriously don't want to talk about this 'Man'.*
She's became the sole breadwinner and a sole family root.
She and my sisters the only reason why I love my family.

Despite this misfortunate fate,
She NEVER ONCE Blame on her kids. No matter how stubborn we are, no matter how unappreciative we are about family issues,
My mum carries this load of burden for many years and although we always pray for things to get better some day,
It never did got better.

But, at least I dont give up on my mum.
I NEver Would, Never Will.

Even if it means downgrading our lives.
Even if it means squeezing a family of 5 inside a 2 room flat.
Even if it means eating bread and butter everyday.
As long as My mum is happy and don't worry so much about the family.
It dosen't matter if we're not rich and life's not stable.

Nothing is more impt to me than having my mother by my side.
Even when i seem unappreciative and neglected her tender care.
I do appreciate and I do love her more.
I just don't know how to show it better.
Se got a stubborn, and independent daughter and she knows me inside out like no one did.
i don't shower/show affection dosent mean i dont want to. I dont know how to.
Affection is secondary, SINCERITY is PRIMARY. and I Live by that principle.

hope mum's headache will ease and look at the bright side of life.
Every year I always pray and wish.
For gd health and happiness to this great woman who 'single-handely' brought up 3 daughters.
But why? Happiness always seems to fail to fulfil on her.
maybe, not yet.

To the angel up there, please read my story and bless my mother and give her good life.
As navie as it may seem,
I'll do anything to make this self sacrificing, loving mother of mine a happy mum =]
It time, for her to put that load down, and let me carry for her...

This is what I read on Readers Digest, about a kampong mother who rides an old bicycle to fetch her two kids to school. The journey to school was a tedious one, but she insisted on bringing them to school...she said to them : "My reasons are stronger than yours and don't you bother. I know, for I'm your mother..."

A long unwritten diary of mine...

Its been a long time,
since i last wrote in this special personal blog of mine.
been posting food reviews...

today,
finally got a chance to write in my blog.
its 840am, ngee ann poly gym.
The stereo is playing and im all alone here today.
The front desk staff will be late.

NP's having their examinations so,
naturally, the gym has become like a ghost town.
oh well......

rite, back to the topic.
whats happening to me some people asked?
well...
"working lor"

maybe it has become a habit to work.
day time @ gymwerkz,
seriously, not much stuff for me to do around here...
or maybe im just not interested or didn know wat to do.

no im not complaining.
but pondering and thinking that fitness instructor may not be my cup of tea.

however, i managed to sit in for a aerobics instructor examination practical yesterday.
oh my, being an aerobics instructor "looks" easy.
but its not.
.....
When to MDIS UniCampus as well.
to check out the Degree in Business Convention and event Tourism.
Some people encouraged me to follow my dreams,
others, are skeptical of my choice and advice otherwise.

well.. im still saving up,
so i got half a year or so to sort it out.

The sales person @ MDIS said sth which is quite true, he said;
"NTU and NUS may still be the preferred choice, due to their long reputation and history, but times are changing and companies are looking for people who know how to work, and not merely but a piece of paper. Paper qualifications gives you a head start ahead of others, but its your skills and abilities that ultimately determines whos the leader..."

i got not idea how many students were impressed by these 'marketing' words,
but at least, it does make sense and quite inspiring i must say...

called sis after that,
but i guess she's nt in the mood, really hope she feels better...
life is unpredictable,
losing a gd friend is like losing your arm.
nothing to assist you...

really, wish my sis feels better soon.

A Heavenly created indie Cafe serving happy desserts...

Finally,
A indie cafe that had desserts that made me smile throughout the meal.
=]
ITs a very small indie cafe @ Bugis.
Opp Bras Basah Complex.

Ambience was nice and cosy.
Its like stepping inside a setting like those cafes in Hollywood movies...
People are very warm and sincere.
at least i can tell from those eyes..

Greeted by friendly servers and the aroma of mixed coffee and sandwhich just makes you feel like starting the day afresh, even though i entered the cafe at night..

They only have sandwhich as main course and each is prepared by the chefs trained in Australia and the US.

Mine was the Pulled Rosted Pork sandwhiched with chinese chicken salad.
its was good i cleared my plate pretty fast. hahas.
Dou dou ordered the same, except hers was with no salad of cox.

the soup was alrite. we ordered mushroom fennel.

i was sitted just beside the dessert counter and imgaine my great distraction as i kept staring at the dessert selections already making up my mind which ones to choose..
finally, i took the red velvet and on the great suggestion from the staff, we ordered the Earl Grey Teacakes as well...

The teacake at first wasnt my obvious choice because it looks very ordinary and i didn feel like trying sth "common".
Guess wat???

I WAS WRONG.
The Earl Grey Teacake was AMAZING.
very nice fragrance and gd texture,
melts in your mouth with chewy tea leaves lingering inside the mouth...
Very VERY good.....

the velvet red cake didn disappoint too,
it was heavenly man...

Goes well with my hot mocha..
ahhhhh...

I cant wait to try the rest of the desserts...

nothing beats home made delicacies.
its very different from 'manufactured' cakes at coffee bean and blah blah blah..

These home bred baker talents really made my day!

Plus, the cafe is really a gd concept.
you can donate to children charity *they dun have service charge btw, u are encouraged to give the extra cents to charity.
And they have different cake selections everyday because they take in cakes from bakers who bakes it at their own home. They encourage other bakers to try and sell their creation over there as well...

sometimes... money dosen make the world go round..
ITs the people.
And most often , thru FOOD.

I've read a lot about it on magazines and newspapers..
finally, im there to give my personal review...
HOUSE BARRACK CAFE.

Ambience: Thumbs UP!
Day time, its like lunch in an modern barrack building with old sch feel.
At night, Love the Alfresco Dinning area! nature outdoors with comfortable sofa and cushion seatings and great candle lightings. =] perfect for a date actually haha!

Food: didn get to try their main course cox i arrive at 11pm and kitchen is closed.
but lucky me as i tried their famous desserts.
OMG.
gorgeously sweet ^^
The macadamia pie dessert is a killer man.
To satisfy a dessert lover like me? PERFECT.

But their drinks are sadly so-so.

Service: Prompt service, but partly because its at night and not much customers are around... very young staff so some may give "Da Attitude lor!"

DEn headed to "Wine NetWork"
For wine session.
haha.
Wine was great.
Cheese was gd.
But i feel the place is a bit small and not suitable for dates and small talks.
Its a bit noisy inside and cramped area.

On a sunday morning, headed to Crystal Jade @ Takashimaya for dim sum.
I love dim sum liao...
With my mum, two sis and me lor..
Food was great , but i had to work @ wine hut
so it was a chop chop makan finish kiss gd bye kind of affair.
but,
still wannna thank them for the great brunch =]

Fish and gang came down to GYmWerkZ and celebrated my birthday! its the 30th July.
I was very very surprised and very touched and i still have my buddies with me
and they really make an effort to brighten up my day!
I missed them really so much and having them celebrating my birthday was more than i could ask for =]

After all six celebrations,
I made the same wish for all six occasions,

Kong Zi And Me =] Looking very excited on my cake! strawberry in abundance plus rich chocolate taste! Fishy, Loretta, JAs , and even Wendy and Shu Zhu came to celebrate me birthday! =] really wanna thank the babes! for all that they've done for me! *sobs sobs* so touched!

My presents! all of them were thoughtfully given by ppl i really appreciate the most! ...
strange this though... mostly were.. Vouchers.. haha hopping time liao i guess.. and.. chocolate!! students @ NP bought chocolates and cakes for me.. Awwwww.. how nice rite.. haha =] thanks thanks !

Cafe No.1: Corduroy Cafe
Location: Vivo City, #01-106, (Beside Gloria Jeans Cafe)

Introduction:
This is a Sophiscated cafe. Enough said. Heavily decorated in European, Vintage Furnishings, You'll see cafe goers with their 'LVs', 'Pradas' and office people or families decked in Polos.

But, Frankly, the price is OK wat. Why do you think i step inside to eat in the first place? The food, the view over looking harbour front river. GOsh.
My best place to read my straits times newspaper haha 0_o. Their specialty is their desserts! yesh! desserts! cakes, cookies, pies, muffins. All 'Ang Moh' desserts you want it, they have it! And its not as crowded as starbucks and GLoria Jeans esp since Vivo is always PACKED...

Best cafe to impress that date ya brining to vivo =] *dun say i didn recommend to my friends ar...

Cafe No.2 : Cafe Oliv
Location: Cafe Oliv at Unit 220, East Coast Road Singapore 428917. Tel: 6344-3114

Introduction: This pure white unintimidating setting is a friendly environment for friends chill outs and easy gatherings =] Food may a bit pricey but, its worth while since it taste gd! Location also a bit off, cos its at East Coast Road, some where east side, near joo chiat. I chance upon this place while exploring joo chiat food stalls and been recommending ppl to go there =] Heard the young aspiring chef is from SHATEC.. another chef from there.. Miss Clarity Cafe Chef also from there i think...

A Sneak Preview of their Food Menu! I Strongly recommend the Soft Shell Crab! A to Die for Kind! haha.

Cafe No.3 : Hemisphere Cafe
Location: OG Orchard Point, Level 2

Introduction:
Its hidden inside this Buildin where u least expected...modern setting fuse with cottage style furnitures. I like it because its non-crowded on weekdays or on most days, maybe becos its soo hidden, it has not been discovered yet. Very affordable prices, with cappucino going for $3, and tea set at $5 plus ... just look at my scone set man! fantastic! Its @ level 2 OG Building, come out from escalator turn left and walk straight you'll see the 'Hemisphere Cafe' Signboard hidden behind the stack of clothes.. *its that Ulu ...

If not, just look up as you are crossing the road from centrepoint to OG and you'll see the glass transparent cafe on the level 2 and walk towards there lor! That's how i found out about it...

A cushion comfort sofa seat, a small wooden table, a very cottage furnishing with a modern art twist in this cafe... Plus, the tower view of the bustling orchard road is a BOnus! =]

Creative Presentation for their Scones! nvm it tastes so-so, the presentation just ROX!

Im very focused and engross when it comes to food.. even when someone is taking photo of me.. haha

The beef stir fried hor fun and Fish slice noodles soup. Sedap! Went there with kong after watching harry potter.

heehee, Lady Boss Bought Dount Factory for US!! OMG! no need to Q. Awesome taste, its soft and warm when heated slightly and it melts in your mouth! The cheese one dosen taste that gd though...

I dun know wats the exact names but im going to name them according to wat it taste like to me...

Woah! i arrived at 'Duan Ji Steamboat Restaurant' Surprised to see such massive crowd packed like sardines to eat steamboat... I was sadly one of the sardine!

Wat you looking at? want to eat? den head down to Golden Mile Tower. Beach Rd. Basement Level.

My second Home...

Went back to wine hut finally after a long tormentous period of sickness...

Boss clelebrated my award with Sparkling Dawn!! with lady boss, 'Yong', summer, Frank, Fishy, Kong =]

And had a great time chatting up with them haha.
Took photos with them with my diploma cert.
They did kinda contribute some how or another haha.
Den Sis pop by and we took pics as well!!

SWISS CULTURE @ SUNTEC CITY

Whoa! look at the fluffy form on my Swiss Latte! haha but, too bad its soft and not firm....the form is huge, but not that well done.. haix.

Swiss Rosti! Im a big fan of rosti! Never fail to have that when im @ Village or Marche =]

JALAN BESER FOOD CENTRE

Went to Jalan Beser Food Centre to eat. With Mum's friends. 0_o. Dont know where it is rite? Me too . Its some where behind sim lim tower, some where near between bugis and farrer park MRT. ! haha. yeah, its kinda like chinatown. *You dont see any young crowds hanging around here.

But, The food is damn nice and cheap lar! Imagine. A big Fish HEad , Seseame Chicken, VEgetables and Pork Chop All for only $28 Dollars!! Whoa! enough to feed 4 persons leh!

I realised, sometimes, the best things in life are the little unintimidating places, where tradition beats modernisation. The next time you'll see many uncles, aunties, grandmas and grandpas, you'll know there bound to be good food. =]

Tats what some have called me.
"She dun need to sleep one la..she work all day all night"

but...after
working 7 days a week. * tats' everyday
sleeping less than 4-5 hours a day.
thinking more than 24hours a day. *even in my sleep,
I fall sick.
Once again.

2 days MC.
finally.

i earn my MC all thanks to Fever, Flu and Sore Throat.
All came visiting me in one night.

Today is my first day of MC.
I thought a lot.

I need to rethink my piorities , my focuses, my life.
i should spent more time with family and friends..
i should.....
but..
i cant. See that wats makes lifes so contradicting .
You want to do something very much but very often you are doing something you do not want to do.

Nevermind if you do not understand the above statement.

Im basically not in the right state of mind.

Lately too much things have been happening.
Interviews from newspapers..
from school..

everytime after each interview, i stop to think,
Whats so good about the award anyways?
I mean, why do people want to know what have you achieved?
There is nothing much to report about frankly.
I lead a simple life, in a humble home in Jurong.

Im not upset.
im just not used to the attention.
Its just that awards are not that important to me.
So yeah... i just do wat im told to do...
haix...
i wonder when the time comes when im doing sth that i realy like?
sth...
tat sth....

DEspite all that interviews and credits,
I still have difficulies getting/finding a university that truely matches my interest.
Money talks. How true.
but im not going to give up.
I want to make sure my education makes money worthwhile.
And not the other way round.

Education buy you money, but money cannot buy you education.
because you could be a Masters Degree holder, but a 'spoilt brat manager to be'.
At the end of the day you could buy 'useful' people to work for you.
help to earn you the big bucks.

but these 'useful' people of yours are not stupid.
they'll soon take over ur business, kick ur ass and assume ur role as boss.
pardon if i sound very crude.

but i kinda could picture how the world works and i really hope im not part of any vicious scam.

Im really sick and tired of chasing the big bucks.

i think i should take it slow again.
remind myself that life's not just about working.
I think...
i wanna take a trip back to my wonderful memories.. places were i feel warm and happy..

back to previous school, back to places i feel relaxing.. =]

A Very Long and sleepless Weekend...

Fri night...
DEcided to cook pizza for mum and sis..
Btw.. bought a new Oven!
finally can whipped sth out for my family..
Den headed to dou dou's place for DVD marathon..
Watched 'Wei Xiao Pasta!' =]
Very nice Taiwanese Drama Serial..
All the way til 4 am .. den 'Ton' @ her place lor..

Den sat afternoon, headed to Chinatown to Dot Box Office.
Dot Box is an events company that I hook up with on the Youth.Sg website.
I contacted them and ask whether i could join them to do events.
=]
Was given a chance to experience working in an events company..
I've got lots to comment though..
My first event tasked was a Sports Carnival @ Bukit Gombak Stadium.
Client is a PAP Indian Organisation- NARPANI .

First task? To head down to Bedok Industrial Park to collect the flag poles.
All 30 wooden poles plus a bag of flag.
0_o.
But i was stubborn lah. and stingy.
I decided to take the public transport the goods back to chinatown office.
Stares were on me as i carried/lifted/hugged the two bundles of 15 poles with my are hands. haha
Hack.

Second task ? immediately take MRt down to Bugis and buy stationaries. its already 10plus at night btw.

Third Task? Do the Signboard for the Fun Fair Stalls. Its 12midnight.

Fourth task? Head back to Bukit Gombak and hang up the banner and decorate the panel.
Its 2am.

Fifth task? Head back to Office and finish the board.
Meeting at 5AM...
Everyone was like Zombie...
Den, yesh, immediately pack up and headed for the Event.
Event starts @ 8am.
By 6am,
We're there setting up the stalls..

And i was i charge of one fun fair stall...
It was great..
many kids.. parents.. eldery..

by 1pm, i had to leave for home.
Not to sleep, but i have a quick shower and ruched down to WIne hut and open for the day.
thought i could have a rest @ wine hut.. since its a as usual a quiet sun.
I WAS WRONG.
customers came in..
in PACKS..
Fours tables..
LOTS OF FOOD.
0_O
I knew..
im doomed.

All the fying, marinating, baking, grilling ,cutting and lots of mayhem in the kitchen!

11pm.
finally.
took a cab home.
Driver: "Where to ?"
Me: "Jurong West st 72. thank you."
Driver (on the way) : " * in ChineseYou look tired. Not enough sleep ar?"
Me: zzzzzZZZZzZZ...

But thank god.
I finally got a chance to have a taste of events.
Not very well managed though.
all the last minute stuff to do.
People were cursing and swearing at each other.
But.
I didn complaint...
maybe. just maybe..
i found sth i wanna do..

GENTING TRIP ON 8TH JUNE

DAY 1

Me and s4 (plus ivan) plus Ivan..
headed to Malaysia.
Up on the hilltop mountain...
To Genting Highlands ...

On a luxuary Coach. Ahhh (Big cushion seats kind)
Slept on the coach..
Watched some movies..

And when we finally reached..
ITs FOOD time!
We headed to Katong Jaya..
For "Ze Char" Feast =]

Deliciously GOOD 0_o
Shopped for a while..
Ate Durains!!
OMG!
They are sooooo heavenly RICH.
haha

And den.. lakopi at Genting Starbucks
(Not bad lah...)
Their drinks are comparable to singapore's.

After that, its more movies @ the hotel room.
den ZZzzzzzZZz...

DAY 2

Headed Early to The Theme PARK!
but ermm.. as u all know.. im no coaster ger rider..
meaning.. im not into those rides..
I was the 'BAG holder' of the day loh..

DEn.. Head down back to jaya and ..
MORE FOOD. haha
same stall.. and
MORE durians..
My god i tell u .. fishy and dou dou and ivan are seriously HOOKED to it man..

I skipped the second part of the durain..
Too heaty for me..
heehee

DEn walk around some more..
Seen the Animal kingdom..
bought SUPER LOTS OF tibits!
YESH!
Wats a holiday without shopping..=]
just that, i dun shop for myself..
i shop for MANY MANY OThers..hee

den.. tried coffee bean cake..
waoh!
nicer than singapore version lor!

after that... had pizza hut for dinner..
than its back to the hotel and more zzzzz and tibits!!

DAY 3

Eh.. nothing much lah..
head back to singapore loh..
except the bus..
MUCH MORE EXCLUSIVE AND COMFORTABLE ...
ahhhhh...

OVerall...
Admist the food feast, durian buffet and discovery channel on genting.. the thing i enjoyed the most?
The much anticipated company of my s4 ...
I was truely relaxing up on the cool weather with them =]
